Public Works OfficeThe Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining the area within the town limits of Jonesville.  The main responsibilities of the Public Works Department are:

  • Maintaining the water and wastewater systems

  • Maintaining the town's streets by paving and keeping them clean

  • Maintaining the town's sidewalks and keeping them clean

  • Maintaining the Park and other Public Areas

  • Maintaining the town's cemetery

The Public Works Department along with the Jonesville Fire Department work hard maintaining and testing the town's fire hydrants.  By flushing out the fire hydrants, the town maintains a healthy water system by keeping corrosion from building up in the pipes and also by flushing out fine sand and dirt particles out of the system.  Testing the hydrant flow rate insures the hydrant is in proper working order and helps determine insurance rates for home owners.  By North Carolina Law, there can be no trees, shrubs, flowers, mailboxes, etc. within 3 feet of a fire hydrant.

Information on trash and recycling pickups can be found at the Town Hall free of charge.
